Glass Jar Lanterns
Gather Materials
Collect clean glass jars of various sizes, twine or rope, wire for hanging, and LED candles or string lights. Ensure jars are completely dry before starting.
Prepare the Jars
Remove all labels and adhesive residue. Soak jars in warm soapy water if needed. Dry thoroughly to prevent water spots on the final piece.
Wrap with Twine
Starting at the base, wrap twine tightly around the jar, overlapping slightly. Secure the end with a small dab of craft glue. Create patterns or keep it uniform.
Add Hanging Mechanism
Create a wire loop around the jar's rim or attach twine handles. Ensure the mechanism can support the weight of the jar and light source.
Install Lighting
Place LED candles or string lights inside the jars. For outdoor use, ensure all electrical components are weather-resistant and safe.
Display Your Creation
Hang your lanterns individually or create a cluster. Group different sizes together for visual interest. Test the lighting in your chosen location.

Pallet Coffee Table
Source Quality Pallets
Find pallets in good condition, preferably heat-treated (marked with HT). Avoid pallets with chemical treatments or excessive damage. Check for splinters and loose boards.
Disassemble Carefully
Use a pry bar and hammer to carefully remove boards. Preserve as many nails as possible for reuse. Sort boards by condition and size for your design.
Sand All Surfaces
Sand all boards thoroughly with progressively finer grit sandpaper. Start with 80-grit, then 120-grit, finishing with 220-grit for a smooth surface.
Design and Assemble
Arrange boards in your desired pattern. Use wood screws to attach boards to cross supports. Ensure the table is level and stable before proceeding.
Apply Finish
Choose a natural wood finish or stain. Apply evenly with a brush or cloth, following grain direction. Allow to dry completely between coats if multiple coats are needed.
Add Legs or Base
Attach table legs or create a base from additional pallet wood. Ensure the structure is stable and can support weight. Test stability before regular use.
Materials List (Printable)
- • 2-3 wooden pallets
- • Wood screws (2-3 inch)
- • Sandpaper (80, 120, 220 grit)
- • Wood finish or stain
- • Paintbrush or cloth
- • Pry bar and hammer
- • Table legs or base materials
- • Drill with bits
Fabric Wall Hanging
Collect Fabric Scraps
Gather old clothing, fabric remnants, or textile scraps. Choose materials with interesting textures and colors. Wash and iron fabrics before use.
Cut Strips
Cut fabric into strips of varying widths and lengths. Aim for consistency in width within each strip, but vary lengths for visual interest.
Prepare Base
Cut a dowel rod or branch to your desired width. Sand smooth and optionally stain or paint. This will serve as the top support for your hanging.
Attach Strips
Fold each strip over the dowel and secure with knots or stitching. Vary the placement and spacing to create an organic, flowing design.
Add Texture
Incorporate different knotting techniques, braids, or woven elements. Mix fabric types for varied textures and visual depth.
Hang and Adjust
Attach hanging cord to the dowel ends. Hang on the wall and adjust strip lengths as needed. Trim any uneven edges for a polished look.
Materials List (Printable)
- • Assorted fabric scraps (2-3 yards total)
- • Dowel rod or branch (24-36 inches)
- • Scissors
- • Needle and thread (optional)
- • Hanging cord or rope
- • Iron and ironing board
